How I turned one photo into a mascot that watches the cursor.

Move your cursor. He follows it.
This is him at his simplest: no reaction, only his head turning. There are nine drawings of my head, one for each direction, and the page swaps between them as your pointer moves. Click him and he reacts.

Same body, nine faces.
The second sheet keeps the body exactly where the first one has it and changes only the face. The chat uses these: hover one of the suggested questions and he pulls the face that goes with it.

One photo, two sheets, one fix.

One photo
I started from a photo of myself and the page-mascot skill for Claude Code. A mascot is two 3×3 sprite sheets. Claude Code can't draw, so I drew the sheets in ChatGPT, with the prompts the skill provides.

Two sheets
The first prompt redraws the photo as nine head turns in a chibi sticker style. The second takes that sheet and draws nine expressions on the same body, so the two line up. Both had to come back as PNGs with a transparent background.

The build said no
The skill's build script measures the shoulders in every cell, because the body must never move. It rejected my first sheet: ChatGPT had drawn the bottom row's hair into the row above, so the check measured hair instead of shoulders. Re-spacing the rows fixed it without redrawing anything — the shoulder spread went from 94% to 3.4%, and the body now moves 0.00px when the sheets swap.

Into the chat
He replaced my photo at the top of the chat panel. Star eyes when you hover him; a heart, sparkles, a laugh or a blush on the four suggested questions; dizzy on the close button; surprised when you click into the text box.

A peek on every load
When a page loads, he rises from behind the chat button with the surprised face, holds for a moment and sinks back.
What he is made of: two WebP images, about 250 KB each. No animation library — the page moves one background image from cell to cell.
